Keeper MORWYN OF WHITBY (Status 9)
The ancient Cappadocian called Morwyn has dwelt in the north of England
since the days of the first Anglo-Saxon invasions. Embraced by the powerful
Camden, he was originally a pagan Celt, and converted to Christianity in the
early 8th century. Now a pious creature, he has extensive control over the
Church in the area, and even maintains a mortal identity as the Abbot of the
remote Whitby Abbey. He is renowned for his wisdom and his command of the
Dead, and has been a valued advisor to all of the previous princes of the
region, from Eodred to Julian Cerialis to Baron John. Morwyn is always
mysteriously well-informed about things, and has been known to pluck
thoughts out of the heads of those around them and answer questions that
have yet to be asked. He is prone to long periods of silence and utter
stillness, and does not seem to be entirely conscious of his surroundings
even at the best of times. He is almost never seen without his entourage of
animated corpses, and dresses in a simple monk's habit.
