THE STORYTELLING TEAM
Sunrise/Sunset Info: Twi: 8:20 am, Sun Rise: 9:00am, Sun Set: 5:30pm,
Twi: 6:10pm
For tonight, OOC time is 8:00 pm, same as IC time
STORYTELLER BREAK
Randy Mosiondz, our illustrious leader, has felt the need to take a break
from storytelling. In the interim, the “nubian tag-team” of Jill
and Mitch will continue to insult your mothers, take your money, and perform
other storyteller/narrator duties. THIS MEANS DON’T SEND STUFF TO
RANDY!!! All influence uses, character changes, experience, scene narration,
and large sums of cash should now be directed to either Jill or to Mitch.
Randy has been doing a spectacular job for well over a year, and it's about
time he took some time for himself. Thank you for doing such a great
job, Randy! Mangos.
EXPERIENCE SPENDING
Once again, a reminder that the way we spend experience in Saskatoon by
Night is to hand in an up-to-date character sheet with changes noted on
it. No, just sending updated grapevine files is not acceptable.
We want hard copy. We want paper trail. We want evidence.
There is a chance that your experience spending won’t be tracked if you
don’t note it on a current character sheet and hand it in…it’s waaaay too
easy to lose those little sheets of paper that say: “I spend 2xp on abilities”.
This also means that sending us XP spending via email is no longer kosher.
Please note this in your little gamer notebooks.
YO MOMMA
Yo Momma so fat she had to go to Sea World to be baptised.
IC/OOC INFORMATION
Yes, once again, we feel we need to remind you that any information you
choose to share OOC (especially ‘sensitive’ material) might be used IC.
We don’t have time to track down “what really happened” in every OOC conversation
that takes place between games (and frankly, even if we did, we don’t want
to). Four little words can alleviate this problem: “Ask me in character”.
Don’t tell people what you know OOC. Don’t ask people what they know
OOC. If you learn something OOC, don’t be weasely and come up with
a way you could learn it IC. In the words of a wise man from
Offspring, “You’ve got to keep ‘em separated”.
FREEZS IN GAME TIME
Be advised the only time the game will be “put on hold” is if the storytelling
team cannot be available (for example, the scene that took place just after
last Elysium was ‘post-dated’ until the ST team was available). We
will not be calling “game off” for any other reason. If something
is happening and you can’t attend OOC, then, quite simply, you don’t attend
IC. That is one of the downfalls of this being a fantasy roleplaying
game; since things aren’t really happening, you don’t really have to attend.
If a scene takes place at which your character “should be at” but which
takes place at an inconvenient time for you, please realise we try to accommodate
everyone, but sometimes this just isn’t possible. Unless otherwise
specified by the ST team, everything happens in ‘realtime’. Also
note any freezes in game time will be announced to the LARP listserver.
LISTSERVERS AND "NETIQUETTE"
Some of us have encountered this topic already; others may be seeing it
for the first time. Saskatoon by Night has two email listservers:
sbn_larp and sbn_rules, both maintained through Onelist (www.onelist.com
). Their names should be fairly self-explanatory; sbn_larp
is for general information relating to the game. Please note it is
not for IC conversations. Those, if unwisely conducted through email,
should be done so on a private email basis. The sbn_rules listserver
is, as the name suggests, for discussions, questions, debates, and complaints
about rules, systems, and general game mechanics. For people who
can quote page number and edition, this is your Nirvana (not to name any
names, Wade). Although Jill has been vigilant in posting things to
both listservers, she will no longer be posting game announcements to sbn_rules
(unless something pertains to rules…duh…). If you’re not subscribed
to sbn_larp, you run the risk of missing important game announcements,
surveys, instructions, etc. This listserver is nothing like the old
SU IC list, of which one had to filter and/or delete 50 messages a day.
Please adhere to the following practises of “netiquette” (doing things
right/politely on the net):
-
When replying to a message, delete any non-pertinent information.
Other users on the list don’t want to waste time scrolling through seventeen
lines of text they’ve just read in the previous post.
-
If the message you’re sending doesn’t need to be aired publicly, don’t
send it to the listserver; send it to the person to whom it pertains (f’rinstance,
you don’t need to send “Jonah, call me” to the listserver if you can just
send it to Jonah. Asking for Jonah’s email address on the listserver
is a different matter…).
-
If the message you’re replying to specifically requests you not reply to
the listserver, don’t reply to the listserver. Please read messages
before you reply to them, people. The wonders of modern technology
allow us to simply click on the return address (usually included in the
body of the email) to reply to the message. Don’t be afraid of technology.
-
Do not use inflammatory, abusive, or threatening language. This should
really apply to everyday life, not just email and internet communications,
but you can’t please everyone, so just make sure this kind of thing doesn’t
pop up on our listserver. This kind of thing will get you banned
from the listserver, and can get you a strike in SbN.
ELYSIUM LOCATIONS
As mentioned on the listserver, games will not be held in Kirk Hall until
further notice. Jill is in the process of finding out exactly why
Saskatoon by Night has been uninvited from Kirk Hall; as soon as she has
any information, she will post it to the listserver. The last we
heard, there was a complaint from someone in the Extensions Division that
people were hanging around in the hallways making noise. We do not
know when this complaint was lodged, nor do we know if this complaint was
lodged against Saskatoon by Night in particular or against all LARP games
currently using Kirk Hall. This is why we have had to become so militant
with location rules. Please do not loiter/linger/lounge in the halls
when we use University locations. Respect the space we have been
allowed to use, and our activities will be respected in turn.
