Saskatoon by Night Manual v2.0 Draft
The new Saskatoon by Night Manual v2.0 Draft is scheduled for release
sometimes next month. The draft will be tossed out for the players
to comment on, to get a general idea of what you like, what you don't like,
what you think needs clarified, etc. Some of the changes include
expanding all Clan Disciplines to 5 levels, clarifying the uses of Disciplines
(do you know if you've been Dominated?) and systems (when do you
spend Willpower to resist a Discipline?). Hopefully this will put
to rest a lot of the reoccurring questions that keep popping up from time
to time.
Influence!
Influence has been becoming a huge resource for characters nowadays
– this is a good thing! But as the Influence Web fills up, characters
may start to find it more and more difficult to increase their Influence.
This is because other people are controlling that Influence. In order
to obtain that Influence, you must usually come up with a reasonably good
plan to detail how you are going about it. This is where things get
interesting; in order for you to obtain upper levels of Influence, you
must effectively seize control from other characters – this is where the
Influence wars get started! And believe me, things are about to get
VERY interesting!
Saskatoon by Night at the Dracula Ballet
A number of players from Saskatoon by Night will be attending the Dracula
Ballet on Halloween night next week. Third floor balcony view – sweet!
Special thanks go out to John Brammel and Mark Brunson for helping organize
this event.
Getting Involved: Plots in Saskatoon by Night
The plots that go on in Saskatoon by Night are subtle: that is, you
won't have things popping out at you on a regular basis. The nastiness
that resides in the World of Darkness will not be obvious; if that was
the case, the mortal populous would not be more aware of the supernatural
aspects of the world. Instead, it takes a bit more of careful investigation
and action to get involved with plots and background characters of SbN.
Most of the plotlines that occur within SbN are initiated by player characters actions. Talking to the right people (or the wrong people) within the Camarilla will usually prompt reaction by notable individuals, sometimes with desirable results. Paving over the city parks will probably provoke the urban werewolves, while committing Masquerade breaches will likely bring the attention of hunters. A whole gamut of World of Darkness intrigue awaits those that are willing to probe deeper into the darker side of the night!
The best plots that occur in a LARP are often those that go on between
the different player characters – after all, Vampire is often a game of
who's on top and who's not. The Prince may keep control over the
city, but each of the Clans have their own agendas. Even within the
Clans, each individual has their own motivations for doing what they do.
Whether it be power, influence, money, whatever – there is often enough
in your own character's background to keep a person going without the need
for external plotlines.
Often potential plotlines are built into the background of the city
– if you want to get a lead on a plot, you have to do a little digging.
Influence usage is an excellent way to investigate activities that are
going on in the city. By pulling the right strings, you can learn a lot
about why things are occurring and who is causing them.
Gaia Needs Warriors!
These are the final days. The Wyrm grow stronger as it spews forth
its evils unto the earth. The world is dying, being corrupted by
the poisons mankind has produced in their relentless pursuit of power.
The signs are clear; this is the age of the Apocalypse. The acrid
air is heavy with hate and a question hangs in the haze – when will you
rage?

Duke Smithwick Needs Questers!
The Duchy of Bridgeberries – an Arcadia gate lies somewhere within
the domain of Duke Smithwick the Troll, and under the command of High King
David, he has put out a call to all brave Changelings, Seelie and Unseelie,
that are willing to Quest for greater glory!
