Police Constable Murdered

Constable Edward Schult died in the early hours of Feb 5th
It was a cold February night and Constable Edward Schult was out pounding the pavement of the Riversdale neighborhood on a plainclothes assignment this past Sunday. He was working overtime on an undisclosed case.
Constable Schult’s shift ended abruptly when he was jumped and attacked by an assailant he probably never saw. He was quickly overcome and stabbed to death, dying before fellow officers in the area responded to the scene.
“He died a hero,” said his Detective Sergeant Ewatski, who was in charge of the case that Constable Schult was working. “He didn’t have to be out there that night, but he was because the people of this city really mattered to him. In the end, he gave his life for them.”
Police say that they have several leads in investigating Schult’s murder, which is being given “Top priority” according to Chief of Police Weighill. No information has been released yet on suspects, to avoid compromising the case.
Although only twenty nine years old, Edward Schult had already established an exemplary reputation in the Saskatoon Police Service for hard work, honesty, and earnestness.

String of Armed Robberies Worries Police
Over the past month several businesses along 8th street have been the victims of armed robberies, disappointing police who had just finished a media conference announcing a decline in armed robberies in the city.
Police are searching for a pair of males who are suspects in the robberies. They wore dark hoodies, with scarves wrapped around their faces. One of them produced a hunting knife during two of the robberies.
